Tools I use to create a high-end website design experience for my clients and streamline my process

Over the years, I’ve tested out lots of different tools and refined my website design process so that it feels seamless for my clients and saves me time. So if you’re feeling like your process could use a little TLC, keep reading to discover the tools that save me countless hours in my design business.

One thing that I will add is that I didn’t start using these all of these tools at once, so please don’t feel like you need to set them all up straight away! These have built up over time as I’ve figured out the process that works best for my clients and how I like to work. If you’re not sure where to start with improving your website design process, try listing out your current process and seeing if there are any areas that could be streamlined. From there, focus on one area at a time, starting with the thing that’s going to have the biggest impact for you. Eventually you’ll have a much smoother process without the overwhelm of changing everything at once.

Tools to save you time in your business

  • Asana - Asana is my go-to project management tool for mapping out each project step by step, communicating and keeping the project on track.

  • Dubsado* - Dubsado is a pretty powerful CRM (customer relationship manager). It takes a while to set up as it has so many features, but once you do, you’ll save so much time. You can use it to collect enquiries, schedule calls, organise your projects, create proposals, send invoices, contracts and even automate all of this using workflows. • Loom - Anyone that has worked with me will have received a loom video. It makes it so much easier to answer my clients questions visually and I use it to provide a folder of video trainings that they can refer back to when updating their websites.

  • Notion* - I love Notion for creating digital to-do lists and for storing my library of code that I can refer back to during client projects. I also know many designers that use it for the client portals too as it’s such a flexible tool!

  • Gmail/ Google drive/ Sheets and Docs - These probably seem quite obvious, but I’d be lost without them. A professional email is an absolute must-have for businesses.

  • Shopify* and Squarespace - I should mention the 2 website platforms that my business is centred around! Shopify is my favourite platform for building ecommerce websites on, whereas Squarespace is the platform that I recommend for my service based clients.
